1994 Dyno Comp — Original Paint “Purple Rain” — 90–95% Original Restored Build
1994 Dyno Comp — Original Paint “Purple Rain” — 90–95% Original Restored Build
This 1994 Dyno Comp is an exceptional, high-level restoration finished in the highly sought-after Purple Rain colorway, one of the most recognizable and desirable Dyno color combinations from this era.
What makes this example especially unique is that it still retains its original 1994 Purple Rain paint. Finding an original Purple Rain Dyno Comp is becoming increasingly difficult, and finding one retaining its original paint and presenting at this level is exceptionally rare.
The bike is built around its original 1994 Dyno Comp frame and original paint and presents in outstanding condition. It retains approximately 90–95% original and/or period-correct components, with many of its original GT and Dyno parts professionally restored rather than replaced.
The original Purple Rain frame paint was carefully preserved. Minor imperfections were professionally touched up, the frame was re-cleared, and a fresh decal set was installed, allowing the bike to retain its original painted finish while presenting at an extremely high level.
No expense was spared throughout the restoration. Virtually every nut, bolt, fastener, and chrome-finished component received attention, with many of the original GT and Dyno components professionally triple chrome plated and restored back to like-new condition.
The level of detail continues throughout the entire bike—from the original stamped Dyno Pretzel bars and drain-pipe seat post to the GT Elite components, original GT Chromoly cranks, original 48-spoke Weinmann wheels and GT billet hubs.
The wheelset alone is something special: original 48-spoke Weinmann 2525 rims, professionally chrome plated and laced to original NOS GT 48-spoke billet mowhawk hubs using new DT Swiss stainless steel spokes and nipples.
It even retains extremely difficult-to-find finishing pieces, including original clear GT grips with only very light age-related yellowing, original GT-logo tan-wall tires that remain soft and pliable, and a new-old-stock GT-stamped silver chain.
This is not a collection of reproduction parts assembled to resemble a 1994 Dyno Comp. The overwhelming majority of this bike consists of genuine original GT, Dyno and period components that were restored, refinished, chrome plated or preserved.
The previous owner has well over $15,000 invested in this one-off build and restoration.
For the serious 1990s GT/Dyno collector looking for a highly detailed example—especially one in the highly sought-after Purple Rain colorway with its original paint still intact—this is a very special opportunity.
